Hot-Off-The-Press Books: HOTP books are the newest popular titles, available for 7-day loan, no reserves, non-renewable, maximum of two. 24 brand new books arrive monthly; titles are selected and processed by the Central Library. (List of recent of titles). HOTP is a $6000 Friends-supported program. (FYI - Same titles are available via online library reserves, with long waiting time.)

2009: Community Donations - in appreciation:
    -- Thanks to Encino Neighborhood Council and Tarzana Neighborhood Council both donating more than a thousand Security Locking Music CD Cases and Insert Trays for Music. Tarzana Neighborhood Council also donated a square multi-shelf display table to feature timely library materials.
    -- Thanks to Monarch Village for large-print books to fill a book cart, and for hosting a lovely event on April 3 in celebration of their donation.
    -- Thanks to Barnes & Noble for donating a book cart to the Friends.

2009: Friends Board Decisions
    -- Four $999 shopping trips with Friends - two for teen books, one for children/adult books, one for Farsi books.
    -- Double the $$ for the HOTP program to $6000 - to receive 24 new books monthly.
    -- Two more new booktrucks; and another new chair for Staff Circulation Desk.
    -- Children's Program Funds for the year for craft supplies, cookies, and parties. Three Children's Summer programs.
    -- CD/DVD disc cleaner/repair machine and refill supplies.
    -- CD and Book jacket covers.
    -- Two new bookstore chairs.
    -- Subscription to Russian language newspaper.
    -- Sponsor two Teen Summer Reading Programs, and co-sponsor all Teen Summer Reading Programs by providing refreshments for all.
    -- League of Women Voter's programs and refreshments.
    -- More Teen and Adult programs and refreshments/water.

Tarzan collection: CD and score of Tarzan: the Broadway Musical, and the book, Tarzan: the Broadway Adventure, in memory of Danton Burroughs, Grandson of Edgar Rice Burroughs, author of Tarzan the Ape Man and a founder of the Tarzana community. These are shelved with the Encino-Tarzana Library's collection of Tarzan books and Burroughs' memorabilia.
