December 2020 Volunteer Project:
Encino-Tarzana Library teen volunteers collaborated with teens at Granada Hills Library to make Senior Care Packages. The packages included a card, a personalized pin-back button and a bookmark. All of these items were individually hand-made by the teens and given to seniors in local assisted living homes.
Thank you to the Encino-Tarzana Friends of the Library for funding this project and allowing the teens to earn community service hours while bringing joy to communities of seniors currently isolated due to the pandemic. And thank you to the staff of AvantGarde Senior Living, Tarzana Senior Living, and Aloha Senior Living. They were all so gracious in allowing the teens to bring gifts and cheer to their residents.

This teen-led workshop series focused on building self-confidence in youth through various
methods of self-expression. The teens worked on building public speaking skills and also used art and
writing as forms of expression. For this first workshop, 18 teens made pin-back buttons that
